British Super One, Rd.3, Rowrah, Cumbria
July 2008

Chris Swanwick of Dagfa House School in Beeston, is one of 54 competitors between the ages of 13 and 16 competing for 'The British Super One Junior Championship' of which the 3rd round was held at Rowrah in Cumbria.

This years Championship is one of the tightest on record, which was again proved this week when Chris came in 12th in timed qualifying only 4/100ths of a second separating him and Jake Dennis who qualified 6th. The heats were just as tight with only 32 points covering the top 30 drivers who made the finals, in which Chris took p20. The double header finals as expected were a very close hard fought affair, with the usual high number of casualties at the first bend, generally from the middle of the pack, but Chris managed to fight his way through finishing 10th in the first final, but not without substantial damage to both the rear axle and brakes, which his mechanics managed to repair only minutes before the start of the second final, in which again Chris managed to fight his way through to finish 11th.

Combining the points from both finals, gives Chris an overall position for the weekend of seventh, just the boost he needs before he leaves for Alcaniz in Spain next month to compete in the 'European Championship Qualifiers'.
